Hi,
I'm new to Frankoma, but from what I read the is a couple ways to differentiate between ada and sapulpa:
1. Check the unglazed bottom of the piece, Ada has lighter color than sapulpa. Ada have much more golden/tan in color
2. Get alitter water to the clay, if the color changed so much (turning to pink) it means it's sapulpa clay. (I have ada and sapulpa dinnerware, and I can differentiate it easily when I wash it.

Hope that help.

erdeem,

Thanks so much for your help. For a new collector it is not always easy to tell the difference in clays, sure some are very clear, ie brick red clay, but the lighter clays, I find it very difficult to sometimes tell. I would appreciate any help in learning how to tell a piece of Frankoma's age. It is hard to tell on eBay what is what.

BTW, the "wet test" worked!, Thanks for your reply, I'm grateful for your help.
